Zeligen - Mushrooms Universe

Mushrooms Universe

Once I was inspired by Mushroom Blind Box dolls and decided to create my own Mushroom Universe.

I was creating arts of some characters during long and trying to find better style.

The Mycelium World

General Lore

World Overview

The Mycelium World is a unique entropic Eden where biology has completely displaced geology, and the planet's ecosystem is governed by a fungal mind.

The world's central symbol is YGG-MYCEL, an ancient, petrified Black Tree with bark as hard as obsidian. Its roots reach into the planet's core, while its crown pierces the spore-filled firmament. This organism serves both as a home and a command center for the five key heroines.
The world's atmosphere is saturated with pollen and spores, giving the sky iridescent shades of violet and green. Three star-mycenae-biosatellites-hover above the land: the Golden (day), the Blue (twilight), and the Phosphorescent (night). Instead of ordinary precipitation, the world has unique natural phenomena such as Thalla's “Golden Dew” and Dalamar's “Ashen Snow.”
The natural landscape includes fermentation seas - vast, warm pools of amber solution - coral-like crystal rifts filled with crystals, and bio-fauna made up of fungal hybrids: deer with ramaria antlers, wolves with mold-covered fur, and birds with mycelial wings.
A key system of the world is the Unified Hyphal Network, which enables communication and the exchange of information throughout Mycelium, alongside a system of exchanging energy and nutrient-rich sap instead of money. Symbiotic relationships manifest in the crystallization of sounds and the thickening of shadows under the influence of spores.

Factions, Places, and Atmosphere

YGG-MYCEL is divided into several sanctuaries, each controlled by one of the five heroines:

1. The Aether Peak (above the crown) is Lomié's domain. Her “Glass Mycelium” floats in the void, interacting with the fabric of space and channeling starlight into the tree.
2. The Upper Tier (the branches) is Kirt's “Thorny Crown,” a celestial guard that protects the tree from threats above.
3. The Heart of the Tree (the trunk) is Thalla's residence in a living hollow. It contains the “Golden Reliquary,” a throne room that pulses in unison with the tree's mind.
4. The Middle Tier (the growths) is Axilin's “Bubbling Grotto,” located in an amber burl, where she transforms the tree's sap into life-giving elixirs.
5. The Roots and Foothills are home to Dalamar's “Crypt of Forgotten Echoes,” where she recycles waste and transforms ancient rock into nourishing dust.

Each sanctuary has its own distinctive atmosphere.
For example, Thalla's garden has no familiar greenery. Instead, white mycelium grows there, cascading with bright yellow oyster mushrooms that glow in the dark. The air is saturated with spore dust, making it difficult for an ordinary person to breathe.

A notable location is the “Gallery of Silent Shells,” a trophy hall whose central exhibit is the “First Host.” All these places are steeped in fungal magic and a distinct energy.

Shared Themes and Systems

The foundation of the world's magical systems is fungal mycelium: a unified hyphal network connecting all living things. It serves as a means of transmitting information, energy, and nourishment, much like the world's nervous system.
Magic manifests through symbiosis and biological interaction. The inhabitants use living tissue and spores to create artifacts. For example, the “Symbiotic Mantle” is a translucent veil of living mycelial threads that ensnares enemies in battle and heals allies in times of peace. The “Living Corset,” woven tightly from cordyceps threads, provides protection, traps enemies, and heals allies with concentrated spores.

The world's themes are steeped in the idea of biostasis and the unity of life.
The character Thalla, for example, seeks to create “Perfect Biostasis” - an endless network without death or pain, where all that exists is transformation into a single fungal consciousness.
In this context, the idea of consumption or assimilation is important: absorbing space, life energy, or matter and transforming it for healing and growth.
Artifacts and pieces of equipment bear names associated with fungal themes and magic: the “Fungal Crown” (diadem), the “Golden Veil” (cloak), the “Lantern of Putrescent Light,” “Bone Greaves,” and the “Golden Reliquary.” All are closely tied to fungal nature and magical functions.
Another important element is the exchange of energy through spores and sap, as well as the influence of fungal patterns and pollen, which can paralyze enemies or heal allies. These systems balance life and death, growth and decay, creating a unique atmosphere of symbiosis and entropy.
